Yes, “The Cal” has been in production since 1963, with gaps 1975-83 (cost-cutting following the oil crisis) and 2021 (coronavirus pandemic).

The first one was shot by Terence Donovan, who is probably best remembered today for creating those two iconic Robert Palmer music videos of the 1980’s: “Simply Irresistible” and “Addicted to Love” (pictured)

These days, the Pirelli style is more portrait than pinup, and not always sans vêtements—the fictional calendar conforms to this trend.
